Anime has been steadily growing in popularity across India, with television channels helping it reach wider audiences. Zee Café India joined this trend in 2022, beginning with the Marvel Anime series in English dub. Since then, the channel has expanded its lineup with more shows, Hindi dubbed versions, and rerun marathons.

Anime on Zee Café India – Overview
Zee Café began airing anime in 2022 with the launch of its dedicated programming block, Heroes of Café. The first series to premiere on the block was Marvel Anime: Blade on August 16, 2022. This was followed by the rest of the Marvel Anime anthology series on the channel in English dub.
Soon after, Zee Café introduced its first Japanese-language series with English subtitles — Valkyria Chronicles, which premiered on September 26, 2022. Over time, the Heroes of Café block expanded with additional titles and ran actively from 2022 through 2024.
Heroes of Café (Anime Block)
Zee Café India introduced a special programming block in 2022 called Heroes of Café, aimed at action and superhero-themed shows. The block launched with the Marvel Anime anthology series airing in English dub on weekdays at 6:00 PM.
The first series to premiere was Blade on August 16, 2022, followed by Iron Man, Wolverine, and X-Men. Once the anthology series concluded, Zee Café expanded the block by adding its first Japanese-language anime with English subtitles — Valkyria Chronicles.
Interestingly, the block also experimented with live-action content. On October 6, 2022, Zee Café premiered the western superhero series The Tick (2016), making it the only non-anime show to broadcast on the Heroes of Café block.
As viewership grew, many of these titles were later dubbed in Hindi and re-broadcast on dual-audio feeds (English and Hindi). By 2024, the block introduced a new set of anime, and the airtime was shifted slightly earlier to 5:00 PM. The 2024 lineup included Blood+, Kabutoborg, and Humanoid Monster Bem (2006).
After running for nearly two years, the Heroes of Café block ended in 2024. However, anime broadcasts continued on the channel without the Heroes of Cafe branding.
Hindi Dubbed Anime on Zee Café
With the rising demand for anime in Hindi — fueled by shows like Naruto on Sony YAY! and Dragon Ball Super on Cartoon Network India — Zee Café decided to re-telecast its anime lineup in Hindi dubs alongside English.
The Marvel Anime anthology was eventually dubbed in Hindi and aired with a dual-audio feed (English + Hindi). The rollout began with Iron Man on December 19, 2022, followed by Wolverine, X-Men, and finally Blade. These Hindi-dubbed versions aired on weekdays at 2:00 PM, instead of the original 6:00 PM Heroes of Café slot.
Soon after, Valkyria Chronicles also received a Hindi dub and was re-run with Hindi/Japanese dual audio, premiering on January 20, 2023.
The positive reception encouraged Zee Café to expand its Hindi-dub anime offerings on the channel. In 2023, a new anime lineup premiered on the Heroes of Café block, including Kurozuka, Guin Saga, Viper’s Creed, and Ultraviolet: Code 044. All shows were broadcast in Hindi and English dubs (dual-audio feeds).
