About Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is a Japanese anime series based on Koyoharu Gotouge’s best-selling manga, produced by studio Ufotable. The story follows Tanjiro Kamado, a kind-hearted boy who joins the Demon Slayer Corps after demons kill his family, and his sister Nezuko becomes one of them.

Praised for its breathtaking animation, emotional storytelling, and dynamic battles, Demon Slayer quickly became a cultural phenomenon worldwide. The series has expanded through multiple TV seasons, feature films, and tie-in projects, earning record-breaking box-office success and critical acclaim worldwide.

Demon Slayer in India – Overview

Demon Slayer first became officially available to Indian viewers through Netflix, which streamed the series in Japanese with English subtitles. However, the anime’s widespread popularity in India grew significantly after its theatrical movie releases, which introduced the franchise to mainstream audiences.

Over time, the series has been dubbed in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu, with multiple versions created by Crunchyroll and Muse Communications (Muse India). These separate releases featured distinct voice casts and schedules, offering varied experiences in the same languages.

Today, Demon Slayer is available on multiple streaming platforms, namely Crunchyroll, JioHotstar, Anime Times, Netflix, and more. This makes it one of the most widely distributed anime franchises in India.

Demon Slayer in Indian Languages (Dub Releases)

Demon Slayer in Hindi

Demon Slayer first became available in Hindi through Crunchyroll, which began dubbing the series from the Mugen Train Arc in November 2022. The platform continued with Hindi dubs for the Entertainment District ArcSwordsmith Village Arc, and Hashira Training Arc, making Seasons 2-to-4 fully accessible in Hindi.

The first season, however, features a different Hindi dub produced by Muse Communications (Muse India). This version debuted on JioCinema in July 2024 before being added to Crunchyroll in August 2024. Later, MX Player and Anime Times also added the same dub in 2025. Muse’s Hindi dub uses a separate cast and translation, distinct from the Crunchyroll-produced dubs for later arcs.

As a result, Demon Slayer currently exists in two separate Hindi dubs — Crunchyroll’s version (covering Seasons 2–4) and Muse India’s version (covering Season 1).

For Season 1, an entirely separate Tamil dub was produced by Muse Communications and released on Anime Times (Prime Video Channel) on August 18, 2025

Demon Slayer in Telugu

The Telugu dub of Demon Slayer debuted on Crunchyroll with the Mugen Train arc in October 2023, followed by the Entertainment District arc in November 2023. The Swordsmith Village arc later joined the lineup in January 2024, and the Hashira Training arc premiered with Telugu audio alongside other regional dubs in June 2024.

Demon Slayer Movies (Theatrical Releases in India)

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba built a significant part of its Indian fanbase through theatrical releases, beginning with Mugen Train in 2021. The film’s success marked one of the first major post-pandemic anime releases in Indian cinemas, paving the way for future screenings and solidifying the franchise’s popularity.

Since then, multiple Demon Slayer movies have been released in India, distributed by PVR Pictures, Odex, and later Sony Pictures India in partnership with Crunchyroll. The 2023 and 2024 compilation films—To the Swordsmith Village and To the Hashira Training—both received nationwide releases with strong box-office performances.

In 2025, the 4K re-release of Mugen Train and the highly anticipated Infinity Castle movie marked the next phase of Demon Slayer’s theatrical journey in India. Infinity Castle, released in September 2025, became the franchise’s biggest Indian box-office success to date, releasing in Japanese, English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu languages and grossing over ₹88 crore locally.
