Anime Times Adds Ghost in the Shell: ARISE in 3 Indian Languages
First Four OVAs of the Series are now Streaming in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu
Anime Times has expanded its Ghost in the Shell lineup by adding Ghost in the Shell: Arise with Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu dubs. The update went live on September 8, 2025.
About Ghost in the Shell: Arise
Ghost in the Shell: Arise is a cyberpunk OVA series that serves as a reimagined prequel to Masamune Shirow’s iconic Ghost in the Shell universe. It follows a younger Motoko Kusanagi, exploring her origins, early missions, and the events leading up to the formation of Section 9.
The series was originally released as 5 OVA films (about 50 minutes each) between 2013 and 2015:

- Border: 2 Ghost Whispers
- Border: 3 Ghost Tears
- Border: 4 Ghost Stands Alone
- Border: 5 Pyrophoric Cult

Anime Times has released the first four OVAs in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. The fifth OVA, Pyrophoric Cult, remains available only in Japanese with English subtitles on the platform.

Japanese Broadcast History
Following the OVA run, the story was restructured for television as Ghost in the Shell: Arise – Alternative Architecture, which aired in Japan from April 5, 2015 to June 14, 2015. In this version, the four original OVAs were split into eight TV episodes, with two brand-new episodes added. These new episodes were later compiled into the Pyrophoric Cult OVA.
Anime Times & Ghost in the Shell in India
This isn’t the first time Anime Times has brought Ghost in the Shell to Indian audiences. Earlier in May–June 2025, the platform rolled out Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex (1st & 2nd GIGs) along with the film Solid State Society — all with Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu dubs.
With Arise now joining the catalogue, Anime Times continues to strengthen its lineup of classic cyberpunk anime available in Indian languages, giving fans a chance to experience the franchise in a new way.
